AFCAT 2018

The full form of ‘AFCAT’ is Air Force Common Admission Online Test. The AFCAT exam takes place twice in a year in the month of February and August. It is a multiple-stage exam conducted by Indian Air Force to select candidates as Class-I Gazetted officers in Flying & Ground Duty (Technical and Non-technical) branches.

This is for the first time AFCAT exam is taking place in online mode. Once you are selected after qualifying all the stages, you will have to undergo a training of 74 weeks, if you are selected in Flying and Ground Duty (Technical) Branches & a training of 52 weeks, if you are selected in Ground Duty (Non-technical) Branches at Air Force Training Establishments.

Indian Air Force has invited enthusiastic & adventurous Indian citizens (Men & Women) to join the Indian Air Force as commissioned officers in Flying, Ground Duty (Technical), Ground Duty (Non- Technical) branches through online applications for the courses commencing in July 2019 for grant of Short Service Commission (SSC) in Flying Branch and Permanent Commission (PC) / Short Service Commission (SSC) in Ground Duty (Technical) and Ground Duty (Non-technical) Branches. Applications for AFCAT Exam 02/2018 will commence from 16 June 2018. The last date of AFCAT online application form is 15th July 2018. AFCAT 2018: Types of Commissions

  • PC for Men
    • Candidates joining as PC officers would continue to serve till the age of superannuation as per their branch and rank.
  • SSC for Men & Women
    • Engagement period for SSC Flying Branch is 14 years from the date of Commissioning (Not extendable)
    • Initial tenure for SSC officers in Ground Duty (Tech) and Ground Duty (NonTech) Branches would be for a period of 10 years.
    • An extension of four years may be granted subject to willingness, suitability, service requirements and availability of vacancies.

    Age Limit: The required age limit is based on the branch. Here, we have mentioned age limit branch wise.

    • Flying Branch: Candidate age should be between 20 to 24 years as on 1st January 2019.Candidate should not be born earlier than 2nd January 1995 and not later than 1st January 1999.
    • Ground Duty (Technical): Candidate age should be between 20 to 26 years as on 1st January 2019. Candidate should not be born earlier than 2nd January 1993 and not later than 1st January 1999.
    • Ground Duty (Non-Technical): Candidate age should be between 20 to 26 years as on 1st January 2019. The candidate should not be born earlier than 2nd January 1993 and not later than 1st January 1999.

    To Apply for the AFCAT 2 2018 examination, the candidate must have to eligible as per the AFCAT 2018 Eligibility Criteria. All the interested candidates must fulfill the basic eligibility criteria prescribed by concerned examination authority to appear in AFCAT 2018 exam. Let’s have a look at educational qualification:-

    Flying Branch

    • Candidate must have a graduate in any discipline with Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level or B.E/B. Tech with minimum 60% marks. OR
    • Candidates must have secured 60% marks in Section A & B examination of Aeronautical Society of India or Associate Membership of Institute Engineers (India).

    Ground Duty (Technical)

    • Candidates must have a graduation level degree in any discipline with Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level with minimum 60% marks. OR
    • A candidate must have completed 4 years graduation or integration Post graduation in Engineering/Technology OR
    • A candidate must obtain 60% marks in Section A & B examination of Aeronautical Society of India or Associate Membership of Institute Engineers (India).

    Ground Duty (Non-Technical)

    • Candidates must have graduation level degree any discipline with minimum 60% marks and obtain 60% marks in Section A & B examination of Aeronautical Society of India or Associate Membership of Institute Engineers (India).

    • AFCAT Exam has various stages for the selection procedure
    • Applicants will be shortlisted on the basis of written exam and they will have to face Screening Test that is Stage-I Testing

    AFCAT Written Exam Pattern: The Written examination will carry all objective type questions and it is will be conducted via pen and paper mode (OMR sheets). There are 5 sections of General Awareness, Verbal Ability, Quantitative Ability, Logical Reasoning, and Military Aptitude Test. The exam will carry total 100 questions and each right answer will have weightage of 3 marks and 1 mark will be deducted for each wrong answer as negative marking.

    EKT Exam Pattern: The Engineering Knowledge Test (EKT) conducted to test engineering knowledge of candidates. The EKT is mandatory for candidates who have applied for Technical Ground Duty branch. This test will take place after the written examination of AFCAT 2018. It will carry total 50 questions and each write answer will have weigthage of 3 marks. 1 mark will be deducted for each wrong answer as negative marking.

    Staff Selection Board (SSB) Interviews: After clearing the AFCAT 2018 written exam, candidates will have to face SSC interviews. It has 2 Stages:

    • Stage-I: Officer Intelligence Rating Test and Picture Perception and Discussion Test
    • Stage-II: Psychology Test, Written Exam, Group Test (Combination of Indoor and Outdoor Activities), and Interviews

    Note: Only those candidates will be selected for SSB interview Second Stage round who will successfully clear the SSB Interview first stage.

    How to apply for AFCAT 2018

    • Candidates will be required to register themselves online through official website https://careerindianairforce.cdac.in OR https://afcat.cdac.in or Recruitment of AFCAT 2018
    • Candidates should have valid email ID and mobile no.which should be kept active till the declaration of results. It will help him/her in getting call letter/advices etc. by email/SMS.
    • Submit the Application Form.
    • The payment can be made by using debit card/credit card/Internet Banking by providing information as asked on the screen. Transaction charges for online payment, if any, will be borne by the candidates.
    • On successful completion of the transaction, e-receipt and application form with fee details will be generated; which may be printed for record.
    • Take out the Print Out of the Application Form for future reference.

    Admit Card for For AFCAT 2018

    As we know, the AFCAT II 2018 examination is expected to be held in August. Candidates who will successfully fill AFCAT 2 2018 Application Form will be able to download AFCAT 2018 Admit Card. The examination authority will released  Admit Card before 10 to 15 days of exam on the official website. Candidates will be able to download AFCAT 2018 Call Letter by using their registration number and date of birth. Call letter / admit card is mandatory to carry because without it you will not get permission to appear in the examination.

    How to Download Admit Card

    • Go to https://afcat.cdac.in and click on careers section.
    • Select download AFCAT 2018 call letter for preliminary examination
    • Then enter your Registration Number/Roll Number and Date of Birth/Password
    • Finally click on the submit button, your AFCAT 2018 will generated and take a print.
    • The AFCAT 2018 admit card is issued and available 10 days prior to the examination. It will be available in the official website of the bank. Candidates are required to download the admit card and get a printed copy of the same.

    AFCAT Recruitment Result 2018 :

    Generally, the examination authority declares AFCAT Result after one or two months of examination. This year, the examination is expected to be held in August, so AFCAT (2) 2018 Result is expected to be declared in October or November on the official website. Only those candidates will be shortlisted for the SSB round who will clear the written examination. Candidates will be able to check AFCAT Result 2018 via roll number and name.

    AFCAT Recruitment Cut Off 2018 :

    AFCAT Cut-off Marks are the minimum marks which are required to qualify in this examination. AFCAT Cut-Off Marks 2018 will be released soon after the declaration of result.
