RRB Group D Level 1 Exam is conducted by Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) for recruiting candidates for Track Maintainer Grade-IV, Helper/Assistant in various technical departments (Electrical, Mechanical and S&T departments), Assistant Pointsman, Level-I posts in other departments of Indian Railways. RRB conducts Railway examinations like NTPC and other exams giving candidates an opportunity to grab a job in Railways (Government Sector) in India.
As per the latest announcements by the RRB, the RRB Group D 2021 exam was scheduled to take place from April to June 2021, however it has been delayed due to the ongoing pandemic. The same shall be updated once the official update is out.
The RRB Group D 2021 recruitment process shall involve the following stages:
• CBT (Computer Based Test)
• Physical Efficiency Test
• Medical Test & Documents Verification
The first stage of the selection process shall involve the conduction of CBT based on the below pattern:

The Questions will be objective in nature having multiple choices & there will be negative marking of 1/3rd marks allotted for that question for each incorrect answer marked by the Candidate.
The second stage involves conduction of Physical Efficiency Test (PET). Candidates shall be called for PET based on the merit in CBT exam that would be 3 times the total vacancy of the Posts notified against RRBs/RRCs as per Reservation Categories.
For qualifying PET The terms and conditions for both Male & Female Candidates are mentioned below:
Male Candidates
The candidate should be able to lift and carry 35kgs of weight continuously for a distance of 100 Meters within a time span of 2 Minutes without dropping the weight. Every Candidate will be given only one chance for this task.
The candidate must be able to run 1000 meters in 4 Minutes 15 Seconds in single chance.
Female Candidates
The candidate should be able to lift and carry 20kgs of weight continuously for a distance of 100 Meters within a time span of 2 Minutes without dropping the weight. Every Candidate will be given only one chance for this task.
The candidate must be able to run 1000 meters in 5 Minutes 40 Seconds in single chance.
Note- The PWD candidates having 40% or more disability are exempted from PET.
The Third Stage shall involve Medical Test & Documents Verification of those Candidates who have qualified the above 2 stages successfully. Candidates twice the number of vacancies shall be called for Document Verification. These additional candidates would only be considered for empanelment if there is a shortfall in empanelment from the merit list /or as a replacement against the shortfall on account of non-joining of selected candidates in the working post or/and any other special requirements as decided by Board.
Railway Recruitment Board (RRBs) has announced the fresh RRB Group D Exam Date through a notice published on 08th December 2021. RRB is going to conduct RRB Group-D 2021 CBT (RRC 01/2019) from 23rd February 2022 onwards in multiple phases.
Note: RRB Group D 2021 Exam Date was earlier scheduled to be held from April 2021 to June 2021, which was postponed due to the sudden surge in COVID-19 cases across the nation. RRB is soon going to declare the revised exam dates for RRB Group D 2021 Exam (as per notification no. RRC 01/2019) which could be tentatively held in November-December 2021.
Candidates who want to apply for the aforesaid exam can do so by submitting the Online Application form for RRB Group D 2021 Exam which will be released by RRB in coming months.
(1) Open the official website of RRB
(2) Now click on "Apply Now" button
(3) Then, Click on New Registration link on the RRB Group D page
(4) Enter all required details viz., Your name, address, father's name, mother's name, email ID etc.
(5) Your registration ID and password will be sent to the registered mobile number and Email ID.
(6)Now, complete the remaining application form details.
(7)After filling all the required details, upload the necessary documents, Photo and Signature.
(8)Now, lastly Pay the Application Fee and take a printout of the application form for future use
The Syllabus for RRB Group D Level I CBT (Computer Based Test) is as follows:
a) General Science
The syllabus under this shall cover Physics, Chemistry and Life Sciences of 10th standard level (CBSE).
b) Mathematics
Number system, BODMAS, Decimals, Fractions, LCM, HCF, Ratio and Proportion, Percentages, Mensuration, Time and Work, Time and Distance, Simple and Compound Interest, Profit and Loss, Algebra, Geometry and Trigonometry, Elementary Statistics, Square root, Age Calculations, Calendar & Clock, Pipes & Cistern etc.
c) General Intelligence and reasoning
Analogies, Alphabetical and Number Series, Coding and Decoding, Mathematical operations, Relationships, Syllogism, Jumbling, Venn Diagram, Data Interpretation and Sufficiency, Conclusions and Decision making, Similarities and Differences, Analytical Reasoning, Classification, Directions, Statement – Arguments and Assumptions etc.
d) General Awareness and Current Affairs
General Awareness and Current Affairs in Science & Technology, Sports, Culture, Personalities, Economics, Politics, and any other subject of importance.
The 2nd stage involves conduction of Physical Efficiency Test (PET). Candidates shall be called for PET based on the merit in CBT exam that would be 3 times the total vacancy of the Posts notified against RRBs/RRCs as per Reservation Categories.
The 3rd Stage shall involve Medical Test & Documents Verification of those Candidates who have qualified the above 2 stages successfully. RRB will soon release the RRB Group D Cut off Marks 2020 on its official website once the results are declared for stage I CBT.
The RRB Group-D 2018-19 Cut-Off has been announced by the Board for the session 2018-19 based on their performance in the Computer Based Test (CBT). Candidates equal to three times the vacancies have been shortlisted for the PET. The official cut-offs for all regions of the RRB. RRB Group-D Cut-Off table for Regions is mentioned below.
The latest vacancies for RRB Group D 2021 shall be announced soon in its official Notification which would be released soon in upcoming months.
According to the Official Notification of the year 2019-20, there are 1,03,769 vacancies for the posts of Track Maintainer Grade-IV, Helper/Assistant, Assistant Pointsman, Level-I posts in RRB Recruitment Group-D Exam 2020.

As per 7th CPC pay matrix, RRB Group D salary is approximately Rs 18,000. Besides this package, candidates are also entitled to certain allowances and benefits. Candidates are selected for the posts of Cabinman, Keyman, Fitter, Leverman, Gangman, Pointsman, Group D – Store, Porter, Group D – Engg, Shunter, Helper-II (Electrical), Switchman, Helper-II (Mechanical), Trackman, Helper-II (S & T), Welder etc in RRB Group D.

The in-hand salary given to RRB Group D is approx. around Rs 40000 to 45000.The gross pay/total pay-out earned like house rent allowance etc. lies between Rs 8.00 Lakhs to Rs. 13.00 lakhs per annum. The amount usually varies as per the location of the PO where he is posted.

The candidates applying for RRB Group D 2021 Exam must satisfy various eligibility criteria like age, educational qualification, nationality as defined by the board. The candidate who does not satisfy the eligibility criteria will be rejected so you are advised to go through the official notification in order to cross check the eligibility criteria.
As per the official notification released by the board, railways have set upper and lower age limit for RRB group D exam 2020. Candidates who wish to apply for the RRB Group D Level 1 examination must be from the age group 18 to 33 years. The age limit of applicants appearing for RRB Group D Level 1 examination will be calculated from July 1, 2019.
The Age relaxation criteria is briefly mentioned below: SC/ST - 5 yearsOBC - 3 yearsPwBD (General) – 10 years
Candidates appearing for RRB Group D Level 1 exam need to fulfil the Eligibility condition in terms of Nationality/Citizenship.
Only those candidates who fulfils the following conditions of nationality will be allowed to appear for the examination:
Candidate must be A citizen of India, orA subject of Nepal, orA subject of Bhutan, or A Tibetan refugee permanently settled in India from and before January 1, 1962. A person of Indian origin migrated from Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Burma, East African countries of Uganda, Kenya, the United Republic of Tanzania, Malawi, Zaire, Zambia, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
RRB has set a minimum level of education qualification that a candidate must possess to appear for the RRB Group D level 1 examination process.
Candidates wishing to appear for Group D Railway exam must possess Matriculation(10th) certificate OR ITI degree OR diploma.
Any of the above degrees from a government recognised institution/Board/NCVT/SCVT is acceptable.
